Super Smash Bros. For Wii U Release Date

A date has FINALLY been released.

As you know, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS was released October 3rd in North America. But we were all still waiting for the release date for the Wii U version. Well you don’t have to wait anymore.

The release date for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is November 21st. There are two interesting things about this release date. It’s a week before Black Friday. Also, it is the same release date as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. These two games are considered to be the most anticipated video games for Nintendo during this upcoming holiday season.

One can say that this is definitely a marketing strategy for Nintendo to boost Wii U sales. According to Nintendo, only 6.6 million Wii U consoles have been shipped worldwide, as of June 30th, 2014 (3 million in the Americas). It’s still far behind the PS4 but surprisingly, it’s doing better than the Xbox One (but not by much). You want to know an interesting fact? The Wii U came out one year before the PS4 and Xbox One. That’s astonishing that the Wii U has been out for two years and it’s selling at this rate. The Nintendo GameCube sold 21.74 million worldwide within 6 years. The GameCube is considered Nintendo’s worst console (in terms of sales). Is it possible that the Wii U could replace that title?

I assume that the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will boost sales but by how much? I’m still excited about the game but will I get it once it’s released? Probably not. I know that I’m the type of person that buys video games when the price drops. Also, is it worth getting a Wii U just for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U? I know there are other games coming out but it’s still the issue of Nintendo becoming too family-friendly, whereas Microsoft and Sony release games for the Xbox and Playsation, respectively, that more appealing to the younger generation and even my generation at my age.

Let’s hope Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will make Nintendo dominant again in the video game industry, or at least more noticeable.
